Dorothy Diann Massengill, 66, went to her heavenly home on Friday, August 4, 2017 at her home in Corinth. She was born in Alcorn Co., MS, on March 2, 1951 to the late Troy and Ethel Settlemires Jones. In years past, Dorothy had worked at Hall’s of MS in the GEO bindery, and as a cashier at Chevron. She was well suited for working with the public since she never met a stranger and enjoyed talking and laughing with those around her. Her smile and laugh were contagious and will forever be imprinted in our hearts. When she wasn’t busy “working a puzzle book”, as she’d say, Dorothy spent her free time in service to others. She made daily phone calls or visits to friends and family to check in and make sure there was no need in their lives she could help them with. Dorothy adored her grandchildren, but she had a special bond with Landon, who lived with her after the passing of her husband. She genuinely cared for and truly made an impact on everyone she met. Visitation is scheduled for 5-9 pm Sunday, August 6, 2017 and from 12 Noon till service time Monday, August 7, 2017 at Magnolia Funeral Home. A celebration of Dorothy’s life will be held on Monday, August 7, 2017 at 2 pm at Magnolia Funeral Home Chapel of Memories officiated by Charlie Browning and Bro. Ronald Wilbanks. Interment will follow in Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers include Brad Moss, Ben Massengill, J.L. Settlemires, Eddie Jones, Jeramie Roach, and Ray Elam. She is survived by her loving daughter: Jennifer and husband K.C. of Vilonia, AR; her brother: Charles Jones of Corinth, MS; her precious grandchildren: Landon Lambert, Jenny Lambert, Casey Williams, and Emily Williams; a special niece: Cindy Marsh and husband John of Corinth, MS; her aunt: Ruby Jones of Corinth, MS; her best friend and cousin: Peggy Miles and husband Ronnie; a host of loving family, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Dorothy was preceded in death by her daughter: Lisa Massengill; her parents: Troy and Ethel Jones; her twin brother: Roy Dan “Danny” Jones; her sister: Brenda Louise Dunn; her husband of 43 years: Joe E. Massengill; her sister-in-law: Patricia Jones; her brother-in-law: Eddie Clyde Dunn; several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
