Mrs. Dorothy Caradine, 72, died peacefully at her home in Pontotoc, Sunday morning August 11, 2024. Dorothy was born in Henderson, TN on April 2, 1952 to the late George Daniel Whitt and Elsi Beatrice Davis Whitt. She was raised in Okolona, MS and lived most of her life there until moving to Pontotoc. She married Harold Edward Caradine at her parents’ house in Pontotoc on April 5, 1969, a union that lasted until Harold’s death on June 14, 2009. Dorothy was a seamstress in the furniture industry working for several furniture factories in North Mississippi until she retired.
Dorothy was full of life, she enjoyed sitting at her kitchen table working puzzle books and having fun with her family and friends. She loved riding the back roads with her sister and just getting lost and spending time together. She lived life to the fullest, and was a joy to know. She loved her kids and grandchildren and would do anything for them. She left this world too soon and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
A service celebrating Dorothy’s life will be held on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 in the Sadie Holland Memorial Chapel at Holland Funeral Directors-Tupelo at 11 AM with Brother Clifton Whitt officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday, August 12, 2024 from 5 PM until 7 PM and Tuesday from 10 Am until service time at Holland Funeral Directors-Tupelo. Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Lisa Moore (Jimmy) of Guntown, MS; sons, David Caradine of Pontotoc, MS and Billy Caradine (Brittany) of Corinth, MS; step-daughter, Patty McCarty (Thomas) of Vina, AL; Grandchildren, Cody Moore, Courtney Moore, Lacy Moore, Hunter Moore, Princeston Moore, Edward Caradine, Elizabeth Nunley, Connor Parker, Colton Peters, Bradley Duncan; 8 Great Grandchildren; brothers, James Whitt of Scottsboro, AL, and Jimmy Whitt (Carol) of Houston, MS; sister, Bonnie Boyd of Pontotoc, MS and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Harold Edward Caradine; her parents, George Daniel and Elsi Beatrice Whitt; brothers, Daniel Whitt and George Whitt.
