Dorothy Benson departed this life on Saturday, January 4, 2013, at the age of 72 years, 2 months, 14 days.
She was born in Stevenson, Alabama on October 21, 1941, the daughter of the late Alvin and Ella Mae Evans Wilkerson. Dorothy had worked as a seamstress at Angelica and El Rancho, and as an electrician at Clayton Homes. She was a member of the Senior Citizens Center and Johnson’s Chapel Church. Dorothy was a loving, kind, caring, compassionate, and giving person. She will be dearly missed.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Sandra Moore of Huntsville, Alabama, Connie Franks of Savannah, Tennessee, Tony Benson of Olive Hill, Kentucky, Donna Hayes of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, Robert Benson of Crump, Tennessee, and Trent Benson of Savannah, Tennessee; sisters, Dora Bentley and Alene Wilkerson both of Friona, Texas; brothers, Rayford and Kenneth Wilkerson both of Friona, Texas; previous husband, Carmel Benson of Savannah, Tennessee; 16 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 sons, Steven Benson and Brent Adam Benson; brother, David Wilkerson; granddaughter, Melanie Robertson.
