Dorothy Belle (Jones) Wallace
February 27, 1935 ~ January 26, 2024 (age 88)

Friday night at 10:59, heaven’s gates opened wide and Jesus welcomed Mama home saying, “Dorothy, I know you, you are one of my own, not because of all the wonderful things you’ve done, but simply because you put your faith and trust in me.”  Mama passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family.

Mama was born February 27, 1935, in Eldridge, Al.  She married the love of her life, Morris T. (Pete) Wallace on June 9, 1951.  She retired from Monarch Tile after many years of dedication.  She was a faithful member of Broadway Baptist Church, Florence, AL.

Visitation will be Wednesday, January 31, 2024, from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m.  The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in Greenview Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will follow in Greenview Memorial Park.  Officiating will be Brother John Brock.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Morris (Pete) Wallace; grandsons, Jason Wallace, D. J. Burton; parents, James M. and Lula Belle Tidwell Jones; brothers, Kenny, Enoch, Lester and Leon Jones; sisters, Ethel Lee Heathcock, Louise Tidwell, Sissy Heathcock; son-in-law, Richard Kimbrough; brother-in-law, Donald Wallace, special sisters-in-law, Betty Hamilton, Bobbie Woodruff, Virginia Miskie, Alice Wallace; father-in-law and mother-in-law, James T. and Velma Linville Wallace.

Dorothy is survived by her loving daughters, Patricia Kimbrough, Peggy Marks (Charles), Shelia Lee (Casey); sons, Ricky T. Wallace (Carolyn) and Kenny G. Wallace (Sherry); loving grandchildren, Laura Darby (Tim), Leslie Crawford (Craig), Heather Thigpen (Jeremy), Christy Borden (Ricky), Kayla Kimbrough, Tosha Wallace, Jeremy Wallace, Rachel Lee, Josh Wallace, Eric Burton; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild; loving brother, Jerry “Ted”” Jones (Pat); brothers-in-law, Paul Wallace, Jimmy Wallace; special nephews, Bob Tidwell, Ron Heathcock; special niece, Polly Coburn; numerous other nieces and nephews whom she loved; as well as her beloved cat, Missy Belle Wallace and grand dog, Lady Bug.

Mama’s “love language” was hospitality, and God blessed her with that gift in abundance.  Her door was always open and everyone was welcome.  She was happiest when you pulled up to her table enjoying a meal she had lovingly prepared.  Conversations would always turn to spiritual things because she wanted to be sure that all her family and her friends would join her in eternity.

To know Mama was to love her.  Her home was filled with love and laughter.  She was a wonderful cook.  She made the best roast beef, chicken and dressing, biscuits, banana pudding and cornbread.  She always sent her grandchildren home with a piece of cornbread or a biscuit.

Mama was truly a Proverbs 31 woman.  We’re all the beneficiaries of her wonderful example of a devoted wife, loving mother, doting grand and great-grandmother, sister and dear friend.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to St. Jude, Broadway Baptist Church, or your local animal shelter.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Jeremy Wallace, Brandon Borden, Justin Borden, Peyton Shelby, Tyler Crawford and Eric Burton.
