Dorothy Arbutus Hood Kessler, age 97 of Tullahoma, passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Yucca, Alabama, on February 13, 1927, to the late James C. and Myrtle (Varner) Hood. She had been employed as manager of Scott Market and later retired from Life Care Center of Tullahoma. A social butterfly, Dorothy enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, as well as her church family at Faith Lutheran Church. She was a master of many things and so much more, a few of which were gardening, sewing, and cooking. Her family and friends will remember her energetic, outgoing personality, as well as her heart of gold…she was faithful and full of wisdom. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, L.G. Amos and Joe Kessler; daughter, Diane Amos; son, Ricky Amos; grandchildren, Jennifer Adcock and Adam Winchester; and siblings, James Robert Hood, Ralph Hood, Thelma Hood Everett, Joe Lee Hood, Jessie Doyle Hood, Dewey Woodrow Hood, Annie Ruth Ayers, and Mildred Elizabeth Bain. Dorothy is survived by her loving children, Ron Amos, Brenda Winchester, and Wanda Adcock; beautiful blessings, Mary (Jonah) Gibson and Catherine Evans; grandchildren, Macie Amos, Dustin Amos, Kim Adcock, Kelley Adcock, Kristie Adcock, Melissa Dickson, Brian Winchester, and Paul Winchester; twelve great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 5-8pm on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, February 25, 2024, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home with Pastor Marty Nutter officiating. Interment will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery with Jonah Gibson, Dustin Amos, J.P. Evans, Chad Gifford, Trey Rollins, and Joshua Rollins serving as pallbearers.
