Dorothy Ann Sewell, age 86 of Haleyville, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, March 7, 2024 at her residence.
She was born December 15, 1937 to Luther and Grace Nicholson. She loved to garden, cook, watch hummingbirds, and attend church, but Dorothy loved her family most of all. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church for many years.
Visitation will be Sunday, March 10, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Nichols Funeral Home in Haleyville, Alabama, where the service will begin at 3:00 p.m. Burial will be at Winston Memorial in Haleyville, Alabama. Brother Billy Myrick and Matthew Sewell will officiate.
Dorothy is survived by her sons, Mike (Karren) Sewell, and Darryl (Shelia) Sewell; grandchildren, Sheena (Adam) Turner, Montana (Tyler) Kitterman, Matthew (Sierra) Sewell, and Michael (Brooke) Sewell; great grandchildren, Ian Turner, Kenna Turner, Baylor Turner, Ezra Kitterman, and Tatum Sewell; brothers, Earl, Jerry, and Terry Nicholson; sisters, Margret Crane and Sue Poore; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Russell Sewell; parents, Luther and Grace Nicholson; brothers, Vernon Nicholson, Alton Nicholson, Clinton Nicholson, Lowell Nicholson, and Charles Nicholson; sisters, Idell Rogers, Inez Alexander and Juanita Tidwell
