Dorothy Ann Richter, age 81 passed away Saturday, January 19, 2019. Visitation will be Wednesday January 23, 2019 from 1:00pm-3:00pm at Colbert Memorial Chapel, with the service to follow at 3:00pm. Burial will be in Colbert Memorial Gardens. She was a member of First Southern Baptist Church.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her Parents: James Howard Perry and Beulah Perry, husband Melvin Richter and brother Junior Perry.
Dorothy is survived by her sons: Tony Richter (Rhonda) Pensacola, FL , Terry Richter (Carmen) Killen, AL, Steven Richter (Saralyn) Vestavia Hills, AL and Stacey Richter (Kelly) Pensacola, FL. Grandchildren: Nicole Thorp, Adam Richter, Savanna Richter, Audrey-Tyler Richter, Dalton Richter, Ashlyn Canoles, Allyson Griego, Langdon Richter and Richard Richter. Dorothy had four great grandchildren.
Family will serve as pallbearers.
Dorothy was an avid runner. She ran in 55 marathons including the Boston Marathon, triathlons and numerous 5 and 10Ks. She was also a member of the Shoals Striders Running Club. Dorothy loved to be outside were she loved gardening.
I Corinthians 9:24 ‘Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it. “
