Graveside service celebrating the life of Mrs. Dorothy Ann Orr, 68 of Decatur, Alabama will be 1:30 pm Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Sterrs Cemetery with the Reverend Dylan Woodall officiating. Public viewing will be Monday from noon till 6:00 pm at Reynolds Funeral Home.
Mrs. Dorothy Ann Orr Dancy “A.K.A” Dot, was born in Lawrence County, Alabama to the late John Ralph “Big Train” Orr and the late Annie Elizabeth Dancy Watkins. Mrs. Dorothy Ann Orr passe her life on December 23, 2020 at Huntsville Hospital in Huntsville, AL.
She was baptized at an early age and joined First M.B. Church under the leadership of the late Rev. John Ewing.
She has worked at Medical Park Convalescent Center. She recently was a Foster Grandparent at Benjamin Davis Elementary School until her health failed. She loved attending church and reading her Bible. She was a loving and kind person that would give you her last dime if she had it. Dorothy was a housewife. She loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She loved cooking, watching wrestling on t.v. and Alabama Football games. She was a true Alabama fan.
She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Sammy Dancy, Jr.; grandfathers, Frank Dancy and Douglas Orr; grandmothers, Lucy Mae Dancy and Ivory Orr; stepfather, Earnest Watkins; daughter, April Cook Dancy; granddaughter, Makayla Orr; six sisters, Elizabeth Maden, Dezarine Hampton Petty, Cynthia Hampton, Lucy Mae Hampton, Julia Roberts and Mary Jones; seven brothers, Don Hampton, Alandress Hampton, Billy Joe Horton, Lamar Falconer, James Douglas and Mack Orr;mother-in-law, Maggie Dancy; father-in-law, Sammy Dancy Sr.; brothers-in-law, Roy Lee Dancy, Billy Don Simpson; sister-in-law, Barbara Ann Edwards; aunts, Nellie Stover, Pearl Alexander, Ophella Patterson and Mary Jane Stover; and uncle, Ardie Bee Orr.
