Dorothy-Dot-Porter-1471448759Dorothy Aileen “Dot” Harlow Porter, age 85, resident of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Wednesday, August 17, 2016, at her residence.

Dot was born November 22, 1930, in Mt. Pleasant, the daughter of the late Joe Norman Harlow and Gladys Mae Curtis Harlow. She was the wife of the late Rochester Porter. Dot was a dedicated, loving and hardworking Christian wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was an avid gardener and loving to read her Bible. She was a member of the Spencer Hill Church of Christ.

Survivors include her daughters, Connie Bassham, Darlene (Kenneth) Walters and Tammy Porter, all of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren, Kimberly (Dan) Shields, Ross Walters, Bill (Becky) Walters, and Brett Bassham; great-grandchildren, Logan Shields and Andrew Shields; brothers, Bobby Harlow, Larry (Betty) Harlow and Barry Dale Harlow; sister, Linda Gail Lowrey along with numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Arlene Porter, grandson, Justin Bradley Bassham, sister, Jean Nance and brothers, Charles Ray Harlow, Norman Carl Harlow and William “Bill” Harlow.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Randy McNeece officiating. Burial will follow in the Arlington Cemetery. The family will visit with friends on Thursday from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be past and present members of the Spencer Hill Church of Christ and Kendra Johnson, special friend, caregiver and adopted daughter, and special girlfriend Jayce Dugger.
