Doris Tomlin Drake, age 89, of Pleasant View, Tennessee, died Monday, October 7, 2024, at her home.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 o’clock pm, Thursday, October 10th, at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View with Bro. Randy Riggs officiating.
Burial will follow in EverRest of Cheatham with Terry Lee, Donnie Lee, Len Andrews, Danny Buchanan, Timmy Head, and Perry Neville serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Tommy Butler, Randy Drake, and the Pleasant View Volunteer Fire Department.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, October 9th, from 2:00-7:00PM, and again on Thursday beginning at 11:00AM until the hour of service at 1:00PM.
Doris was born on July 24, 1935, to Buford “Blue” and Elise Mosier Tomlin. She dedicated many years of her life to her family and memories, leaving a lasting legacy of love and service. Doris worked at The Blanket Store before devoting over 40 years to Pleasant View Utility District, where she was appreciated by many.
Doris enjoyed her flowers and birds, finding joy in their beauty. Her favorite places were the mountains and the beach, or any antique store looking for salt dips to add to her collection. In her community, she was involved with the Pleasant View Volunteer Fire Department, demonstrating her commitment to helping others. Her husband was a founding member of the department and also Chief for 23 years She was on the women’s auxiliary and she was always hunting down auction items for their annual picnic. She was a Christian.
Doris is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, T.R. Drake; her sister, Delcia (Larry) Lee; her brothers, Bobby and Major Tomlin; and her great-grandson, Jase Hoover.
Doris cherished having her family around her and she is survived by her sons, Ricky Drake, Mickey (Joy) Drake, and Bruce (Liz) Drake; and daughter, Laurie Drake. Affectionately known as Maw Maw she is also survived by her grandchildren, Miranda Ellis, Korey (Bo) Stewart, Tiffany Drake, Kara Drake, and Tyler Drake, and by her great-grandchildren, Matthew Jones and Levi Hoover. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Betty Tomlin and her nieces & nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the doctors, nurses, hospice, and caregivers who helped her and the family get through a trying time.
