Doris Hathcock Profile PhotoDoris Jean Little Hathcock, 80, passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2024.  Doris was born in Smithville on March 9, 1944 to the late Auzie and Marie Fears Little.  She was a graduate of Hatley High School and married Kenneth Hathcock on February 21, 1964.  Doris worked for a number of years as the office manager at Sunflower Grocery and later at Larson’s Big Star.  Her career suited her personality as Doris was very much a people person, always had a big smile and lived her life to help others.  She loved being a mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and also enjoyed watching the livestream services from Meadowood Baptist Church each Sunday.  She also enjoyed sewing, watching game shows and court tv shows and taking care of her puppies.  Doris loved to keep up with her friends and family, she also kept up with what was going on in her neighborhood.  Doris was devoted to the care of her family and friends and always seemed at her best while helping others.

Doris is survived by her sons, Harold Hathcock (Sarah), Smithville and Darrel Hathcock (Kimberly), Bonham, TX; daughter, Wyvonda Gann of Amory; grandchildren, C.J. Hathcock (Kayla), Valerie Hathcock, Britteny Raditz, Arianna Bailey (Spencer), Abigail Hathcock, Sophia Hathcock; great grandchildren, Kason Hathcock, Colton Hathcock, Benjamin Bailey and Kyra Kirk; special friends, JoAnn Tubb, Sandra Boozer and Jeannie Moffett; a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Doris is preceded in death by her brothers, Herbert Little (Linda) and Huey Little (Clinese); son in law, Johnny Gann, Jr.; special friend, Wendall Weaver.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, November 2, 2024 at Meadowood Baptist Church with Dr. Lloyd Sweatt and Bro. Darrel Hathcock officiating.  Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be C.J. Hathcock, Timmy Little, Eddie Little, Tracy Martin, Dawson Martin and Randy Tucker.  Honorary pallbearers will be Kason Hathcock, Colton Hathcock and Benjamin Bailey.

Visitation will be held Friday, November 1, 2024 at Meadowood Baptist Church from 5-7 PM and will continue on Saturday from 1 PM until the service hour at 2 PM.

Memorials may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to the East Amory Robotics Fund 124 N Main St, Amory, MS 38821.
