Doris H. PuckettMrs. Doris H. Puckett of Hartselle, AL, passed away at her residence on March 12, 2023, after a long convalescence. She was born Doris Imogene Holladay in Morgan County, AL in 1932 to Clyde and Essie Crow Holladay. After graduating from Danville High School, and earning degrees at Florence State Teachers College and Auburn University, she spent almost 40 years as an elementary teacher and librarian in Alabama and Alaska. She was married to Robert Puckett for over 50 years. Doris was a diligent worker on her childhood farm, as a teacher, and at home. She enjoyed reading, cooking, gardening, and caring for her family. She played the piano from childhood at Friendship Baptist Church and later at Johnson Chapel Methodist Church, where she was a member. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Parris Joan, and brother Lyle. She is survived by her brother, Kyle of Fairbanks, AK, sisters Sonja of Danville, and Kathy Hildie (Don) of Florence, children John (Renata), son Lukas, Alison Mullins, son Conor, and Rob (Vicki), daughters Mattie and Rachel Ann.

Visitation will be at Johnson Chapel Methodist Church in Danville, AL at 10:00 am on Wednesday, March 15, with a service at 11:00 am, and burial immediately following. Caleb Marshall will be officiating and Ridout’s Brown-Service is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of the Valley, (HospiceOfTheValley.net).
