Doris Cooley Edmonds  Doris Faye Cooley Edmonds of Warrenton died peacefully on Sunday, November 19, 2023. She was 86 years old.
The daughter of Al and Hallie Cooley of Diamond in Guntersville, Alabama, Doris was born on August 3, 1937. She graduated at Marshall County High School in 1954. In 1954, she married her sweetheart, Boyd Edmonds Jr. She worked for Dr. Horton as a dental assistant then was hired by the U.S. Army Missile Command at Redstone Arsenal. She volunteered to retire in 1988. She ran for the Alabama District 9 Senator seat in 2002. Doris loved working on her family’s genealogy and keeping up with political news.
Doris is survived by her daughter Teresa Williams, son Phillip Edmonds (Yvonne), 8 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and one on the way, and 1 great great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents Al and Hallie Cooley, husband Boyd Edmonds Jr., son Boyd Keith Edmonds, granddaughter Erica Whitaker, grandson Boyd Keith Edmonds II, sisters Francis Anderson and Jean Tigue, and brother J.T. Cooley.
The funeral will be held at Guntersville Memorial Chapel with burial following at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
