Obituary of Doris Eveline Silas Doris Eveline Silas, age 83 of Athens, passed away Thursday December 22, 2022, at home surrounded by her family.

A devoted Christian all of her life, she was a long time member of First Church in Athens, and a current member of LifeGate Church in Madison. Cooking and working in her flower gardens was something she loved to do, and took great pride in. She also loved to travel with her husband; especially cruises. She loved her family to be around, and was a must during holidays.

Visitation will be Monday December 26th at McConnell Funeral Home from 5-8pm. A chapel service will be Tuesday at 1pm with Rev. Kendall Penton officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Cemetery.

She is survived by her husband, James Silas; son, Michael Silas (Tracy); daughters, Deborah Terry (Steve) and Denise Silas (Margie); brothers, Kenneth and Robert Thomas; sisters: Joyce Hubbard, Robbie Sanders and June Sanders; grandchildren: Lauren Brunson (Drew), Ashton Anders (Charlie), and Nathaniel Silas; great-grandchildren: Isaac James Brunson, Emily Elizabeth Brunson and Oakley Rae Anders; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceding her in death are her parents, Oscar and Eveline Thomas; brother, David Thomas; and sister, Jane Reynolds.
