Doris 2The life of Doris Elaine Hargett will be celebrated with her children and family Friday, Dec. 14. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. at Colbert Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. in the chapel. Burial will follow

at Colbert Memorial Gardens. Brother Bryan McIntyre is officiating. Doris, 76, passed away Dec. 12, 2012.

Survivors include sons, Phil Hargett (Donna) and Les Hargett (Melondy);

daughter, Melissa Hargett;

grandchildren, Jennifer Higgenbothum, Barry Roth, and Gatlin Hargett; eight great-grandchildren;

brothers, Robert Osborne, Tom Osborne (Lavonne) and Art Osborne (Linda);

sister, Janie Ann Poole (Jim);

a host of loving nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Bart Whitten, Keith Phillips, Gatlin Hargett, Howard Smith, Syd Alexander and Johnny Wright.

Mrs. Hargett was born in Spring City, Tenn. She moved with her husband, who was with the TVA, to the Shoals area. She was a devoted mother to her children. She was an active den mother, a member of The Mother Singers, Zodiac Theater and Miracle Worker. She was a trained Opera Singer and a choir member at the First Methodist Church of Sheffield, Ala. She worked at WVNA Radio Station and did character voices on the famed Jack Voorhees Radio Show. She later moved to Florida where she owned The Sunglass Exchange in Orlando, Fla.

Her life was filled with love, art, song and laughter.
