Funeral Services for Doris “Dodi” Barrs Colburn, age 71, of Lineville, will be held on October 18, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. CST at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland with Reverend Peggy McCard officiating. Burial will follow in the New Harmony Cemetery.

Dodi, as she was affectionately known, was born in Perry, Georgia. She grew up in Warner-Robins, Georgia and was a graduate of Fort Valley High School. She was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. She operated a bait and tackle shop with her late husband Larry Colburn. She also owned and operated a cleaning business and an interior decorating business. She was patiently active in fundraising and providing support for cancer research as well as volunteering at the Lineville Health and Rehabilitation Center which included cultivating plants, flowers, and building bird feeders for the residents. She loved and cherished her community and beautiful Lake Wedowee and all of its occupants. Her contribution to the community will be missed.

She is survived by her sisters Peggy McCard (Keith) of North Carolina, Audrey Peacock of Lyons, Georgia, Grace Barrs Waszczak of Northport, Florida and her brother Carl Barrs, her grandson Dylan Ragsdale of Kathleen, Georgia, her Fiancé Frank Barnard of Lineville and his children, Frank Barnard III (Heidi) of Wedowee and Heather Smith (Kevin) of Florida, as well as a large extended family including nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James S. Barrs JR. and Florence Pipkin Barrs Lee; her husband Larry Colburn; daughter Angel Gibson, two sisters, Janette McCluggage and Alma Williams; and a brother James S. Barrs III.

Active Pallbearers will be Mark Cavender, Tony Hill, Trent Shelnut, Craig Williams, John Keener and Frank Barnard III.

The family will receive friends at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland on Thursday October 17, 2024 from 5:30 P.M. CST until 8:00 P.M. CST and until service time on Friday.
