Doris Cothren, 91, passed away on August 14, 2024, at the Hospice Family Care inpatient facility in Huntsville. Doris was born January 24, 1933, at home on her family’s farm in southeast Madison County to Frank L Hayle and Nannie Nebraska Wilbourn Hayle.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James F. “Big Jim” Cothren; sister, Virginia Batey; brothers, Frank C. Hayle and William D. Hayle.
Doris leaves to mourn her passing daughter, Paula Wrye (Kenneth); son, James F. “Fred” Cothren Jr. (Bonita); grandchildren, Bradley A. Cothren (LeAnne), Britney A. Bowers (Kevin), Betsy B. Hughes (Jayce), and Bailey A. Cothren; three great-grandchildren, Hudson Hughes, Beau Bowers, and Annie Brooke Bowers; as well as several nieces and nephews. Special appreciation goes to caregivers, Patricia Wood and Hospice Family Care staff Leslie and Rhonda, who recognized Doris for the sweet, funny lady she was.
Doris was a faithful and loving Christian wife and mother. She worked hard to provide for her family throughout her life and retired from SCI after working for PR Mallory for many years in Huntsville. She loved gardening, drawing and various crafts
A private graveside service will be held at a later time with burial in Hayden Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please direct donations to the Alzheimer’s Association or Hospice Family Care.
