After a short illness, Doris C. McMillian passed away peaceful at Magnolia Trace on Tuesday morning, March 24, 2015, at the age of 89. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Ted McMilllian.
Mrs. McMillian is survived by her three daughters: Glynda Stephenson and husband David of Decatur, Joyce Stringfellow and husband Don of Huntsville, and Donna Rudd and husband, Ken, of St. Louis, Mo. She is also survived by grandchildren, Gayle (Jon-David) Phillips of Huntsville, David Stephenson, Jr. of New Orleans, LA, Page Rudd of St. Louis, Mo, and Brandi (Jeff) McCormack of Birmingham, AL and four great grandchildren, Watkins Phillips, Ava Rudd, Anna Elizabeth McCormack and Jack McCormack.
Mrs. McMillian was born in Excel, AL, on April 8, 1925, but she had lived in Huntsville for many years. She was a long time active member of Lakewood Baptist Church. Her life was filled with church activities, club activities, hobbies and painting. She was always there when anyone needed a friend. The most important activity in her life was being there for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She lived her life as an example of a beautiful loving southern mother, and grandmother and great grandmother.
Visitation will be Thursday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home followed with a Celebration of Life service at 1pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations maybe be made to Alzheimer’s Association or Lakewood Baptist Church.
