Doris Adean Hardy Reid Doris Adean Hardy Reid, 91 of Athens, passed away on Tuesday, August 15th, 2023, at her residence. Mrs. Reid was born on March 30th, 1932, in Limestone County, to Buford and Mary Ella Howard.

Mrs. Reid is survived by her children Mike Reid, of Hartselle, Marilyn Bradley (Steven), of Athens, Melissa Walker (Will), of La Mesa, NM, and Marcia Dunbar, of Tampa, FL; grandchildren Emily, Sarah Kate, Anna, Nicole, Mary Ellen, Will, Julia, and Mary; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Ules G. Reid, Jr.; great-grandchild Henry Zehner; and brother Douglas Hardy.

Mrs. Reid was raised in Limestone County. She graduated from Clements HS in 1948. In 1949, she married Ules G. Reid, Jr. She was a full-time homemaker until January 1972 when she went to Calhoun Community College and became an LPN. She was Dr John R. Waddell’s nurse for 34 years. When she retired, she became a nanny for Drs Patrick and Stacey Tucker’s children, Madeline and J.P., for many years. Doris had many talents and hobbies that included sewing, flower gardening, baking, restoring antique furniture, and helping people in the community. However, her most important accomplishment in life was to follow God’s commandments and to be with Him forever.

We thank all of you for your friendship, kindness, and support for Doris throughout all of her years.

There will be a visitation for Mrs. Reid on Friday, August 18th, 2023, from 5:00-8:00pm at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home.
