Mr. Donnie Wayne Simmons, Sr., 67, passed away Saturday February 23, 2019 at his home from an extended illness. A Van Buren County native he was born June 14, 1951 to Joe Paul and Anna Mae Hodge Simmons who preceded him in death. Donnie was of the Baptist faith, worked in construction and in the logging industry for many years.
Besides his parents he was also preceded in death by brother; A.C., Ricky (Johnson) and Joe Darrell Simmons and granddaughter Maykayla Hale.
He is survived by his wife; Annetta Marie Hewitt Simmons of Spencer, sons; Donnie Wayne Simmons Jr. of Spencer and Joshua Caleb Simmons of Spencer, daughter; Tanya Michelle (Jason) Hale of Spencer, brother; Eric Paul Simmons of Spencer, sisters: Wanda Crouch of McMinnville, Linda Sue (Keith) Pettit of Spencer, Karen Moffit of Spencer and Sandy (Johnny) Measles of Spencer, grandchildren; Donnie III, Garrett, Dalton, Grant, Paul Dylan and Landon.
Funeral services will be Tuesday February 26, 2019 at 2:00pm in the Layne Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Wayne Sullivan officiating. Burial will follow in the Sodom Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday February 25, 2019 from 2:00pm to 9:00pm and Tuesday from 11:00am till time of service.
