Mrs.Donna Ruth Clark Mackey , age 70, of Huntsville, passed away Wednesday at Huntsville Health and Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Mackey was born in Birmingham, AL and graduated from Auburn University in 1966 with a Bachelor of Science in Education. She continued her education at the University of Alabama where she graduated in 1972 with a Master of Arts in Educational Administration. She was employed over 41 years as an Elementary School teacher, and retired from Mountain Gap Elementary where she taught third grade.
Mrs. Mackey had a long and distinguished teaching career. She was passionate about teaching and making a difference in the lives of her students. She was a loving wife, devoted mother, and wonderful friend. Mrs. Mackey was a faithful member of Mayfair Church of Christ for many years.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Wayne Mackey; daughters, Mary DeArment (Donovan) of Harvest, and Margaret Mackey of Huntsville; brother, Charles Tyler Clark (Anne) of Birmingham; and two grandchildren. She is also survived by one step-daughter Anne Bartholomew (David) of Newbury Park, CA; and two step-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 12:30 noon to 2:30 p.m. Friday at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow in the chapel at 2:30 p.m. with Dr. Gary Bradley officiating. Burial will take place after the service at Maple Hill Cemetery.
The family wishes to thank the staff and caregivers from American Senior Assistance Program, Clare Bridge of Hampton Cove, Hospice Family Care, and Huntsville Health and Rehabilitation Center for their loving and compassionate care of Mrs. Mackey.
