On January 28, 2024, Donna Campbell got her wings and went to walk with the angels. She was 75 years old. She was a proud mother of her son and a prouder grandmother of her three grandchildren.

Donna was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Jerry Campbell. She is survived by her son, Wesley Campbell and her three grandchildren, Chyanne, Brenden, and Ryleigh.

It would be wrong to say that Donna lost her battle to sickness because she never stopped fighting, she was always determined. Through her, we know what resilience and perseverance truly looks like. Just because she is no longer here, it doesn’t mean she lost her fight.

Donna was born in Bristol, Virginia on June 22, 1948. She was the last remaining Shaffer of her family. As a teenager, she moved to Decatur, Alabama and was a drum major in the first graduating class of Austin High School.

She eventually met Jerry Campbell and married the love of her life after two dates in 1976. They settled in Decatur after Jerry retired from active duty.

Funeral services will be held at Ridout’s Brown-Service Funeral Home on Friday, February 2, 2024 the visitation is from 10:30 AM until 12:00 PM for all family and friends to gather to honor Donna’s remarkable journey. The service will follow at 12:00 in Chapel and then the Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
