Donald W. Rindt, 97, of Birmingham, formerly of Sheffield, Alabama, passed away on March 3, 2016. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II and retired from Tennessee Valley Authority after 34 years. He was known for his love of hiking, gardening, and singing. While living in Sheffield, he was very involved in the Columbia Avenue Presbyterian Church and the Old Brick Presbyterian Church.
He is preceded in death by a son, Roger Rindt.
He is survived by his sons, Jon Rindt (Katherine) and Brian Rindt (Frances); his daughters, Nancy Rindt Carlisle (Cliff) and Elaine Rindt Eggers (Philip); grandchildren, Beth Rindt and her son, Chris Lenear; Keith Rindt and his daughter, Charlotte; Robin Hocking (John) and their children, Elizabeth and Michael; David Rindt (Jenny) and their children Abby, Ella and Ivy; Rusty Spruell (Bretta) and their children, Noah and Savannah; Christy Guthrie (Todd) and their children, Emma and Megan; and Isaac Eggers. He is also survived by his 101-year-old sister, Pearl Hartmann.
There will be a private graveside service at a later date in Sheffield, Alabama. Memorial gifts may be made to a charity of your choice or the Roger W. Rindt Memorial Scholarship in Interior Design, payable to the Auburn University Foundation and mailed c/o Dara Hosey, CADC Office of Development, 221 Dudley Hall, Auburn University AL 36849.
