  Donald Roger Calkins Profile PhotoDonald Roger Calkins, aged 81, passed away on April 10, 2024, in Columbia, Tennessee. He was born on March 7, 1943, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to the late Donald W. Calkins and Shirley “Spaeth” Calkins.

Donald served his country with pride for four years in the Seabees Branch of the Navy. A dedicated patriot, he found honor in his service. Following his military career, he pursued a profession as a truck driver until his retirement.

Among his passions were classic cars and attending car shows. He harbored a deep appreciation for steel guitar music and had a lifelong desire to learn how to play. During his time in Arizona, he relished exploring the West Coast, yet he loved his visits to Wisconsin, Tennessee, and Texas to reunite with family. He would get every morning to eat breakfast with his good friend, Bob, and others at Peggy’s Sunrise Café.

Donald is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Darlene Calkins, and his parents. He is survived by his children, Brian Calkins and April Calkins Thurman (Randy); grandchildren, Amanda Thurman, Cody Brett Worthman, Raleigh Calkins, Cameron Calkins, Jaqueline Gamble, Jacob Villano, and Zoe Calkins; sister, Carol Mueller (Gene); nieces, Chris Goetzke (Tim), Deb Larson (John Price), and Tracy Bram; good friend: Bob Smith; along with seven great-grandchildren, and one more on the way.

Donald Roger Calkins will be remembered fondly for his dedication to his country, his love for his family, and his zest for life’s simple pleasures. He leaves behind a legacy of service, love, and cherished memories.
