Donald Raye Yielding, 67, passed away June 17, 2023, at North Mississippi Medical Center after
a brief illness. He was born July 8, 1955, in Marion, Indiana to Fred and Mary Frances Lesley
Yielding. Donald was a 1973 graduate of Mantachie High School. He worked for American
Freightways as operational supervisor until he retired due to health issues at the age of 50.
Donald’s love of old cars was very evident since he spent almost every weekend at car shows
with his wife, Norma. And was a member of North Mississippi Cruisers. He never met a
stranger and constantly enjoyed sharing humorous stories and jokes with all who would listen.
Donald enjoyed being with his children and grandchildren any time he could and loved sharing
music with them. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of 46
years, Norma Kerr; son, Chris Yielding; grandchildren, Annalissa Brown (Tregory), Melana
Chism, Loghan Yielding, Trinity Chism, Brali Yielding, and Lydith Yielding; brothers, Freddy
Yielding (Janice); Edward Yielding (Imogene). No Public services have been set at this time. Senter Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lori Mimms; granddaughter, Sophie Yielding, and his
parents. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the American Diabetes
Association @diabetes.org.
