Donald Ray Phillips “Donnie” passed away suddenly at his home early Wednesday morning. Donnie was born in Wilmington, NC in 1950 but was a resident of the Shoals almost all of his life. A graduate of Muscle Shoals High School, he graduated from the University of Georgia in Landscape Architecture. He greatly enjoyed his work with the many clients of Donald R. Phillips and Associates, Florence, Alabama.
Donnie was preceded in death by his parents, Bennie and Norma Phillips, and by his son, Benjamin Young Phillips. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Vicky Young Phillips; brothers, Jimmy Phillips (Dora), Jacksonville, FL; Ronnie Phillips (Mary), Denver, CO; special nieces and nephews.
A memorial service for family and close friends will be held 1:00 Tuesday, November 19, at Colbert Memorial Chapel.
