Donald Ray Handley, who was a devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather departed this earth and met his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 1st 2023.
Donald was born in Jasper, Alabama on August 16, 1938 to Leo and Marie Handley. On May 18th 1959 he would marry the love of his life Helen Jane Smith and they would be married for 62 years and create a household of 42 loving family members.
He worked in the steel industry for more than 40 years for US pipe and Williams Foundry, leaving behind a work ethic that still exist in each of his kids and grandkids to this day. He loved to sing with Jane and was a part of the Singing Smith Family for many years as he sung base. He took great pleasure in was seeing his grandkids play sports. He loved baseball and football as he rarely missed a game he could attend of his grandchildren.
Donald is preceded in death by his wife Helen Jane Handley, his father, Leo Handley, mother Marie Handley, his brother-in-law Joe Smith (Gail) and his great granddaughter Sarah Piper Corley. He is survived by his brother Otis Handley (Ann) Gail Smith, his four children, Cindy Corley (Snoopy), Jeff Handley (Patti), Cathy Kiker (Mike), Brad Handley (Brooke) his grandchildren Nathan Corley (Mallory), Lauren Walton (Kent), Kristin Nichols (Philip), Jacob Kiker (Chelesea), Tyler Corley (Kasey), Kaley Brummett (Justin), Chase Handley (Krisi), Kenzie Handley, Chaney Handley and 16 Great Grandchildren.
Funeral will be Thursday, January 5th, 2023 at 2 pm. The funeral will be held at New Horizon Memorial in Dora, AL. Burial will follow at Crestview Memorial Cemetery, in Adamsville AL. Bro Mike Kiker will be officiating. Visitation is Thursday 12:30-2 pm.
The entire Handley family would like to extend their appreciation to Comfort Care Hospice for the excellent care that was given to Mr. Handley. Also, a special thanks to Sharon Jones and Syderia Finley for their excellent care given to Mr. Handley as well as their kindness shown to the family members.
