Donald Ray Colbath of Huntsville, AL died October 27th, 2023. Don was born March 14, 1937 in Hapeville, GA to Violet and Adrian Colbath. He was a graduate of Hapeville High School in Hapeville and attended the University of Georgia.
He worked for Capital Airlines where a stewardess stole his heart and became his lovely bride. Don and Norma married in 1958 and raised 4 children. His love for sports at an early age continued throughout his life whether he was cheering on his children/grandchildren, refereeing or watching on TV. This passion for service continued in his volunteer work for the church, Manna House and community.
Don is survived by his wife of 65 years, Norma and his children, Donna (Mitch) Nelson, Kerri (Don) Ransom, Mark (Suzanne) Colbath and Cheryl (Carey) Drake; grandchildren; Hunter (Leslie) Nelson, Morgan Nelson, Calvin (Mindy) Ransom, Sara (Morgan) Britnell, Mary Kathryn Colbath, Jordan Drake and Tyler Drake; great grandchildren; Anne Sims, Burns, Campbell and Wood Nelson and Olivia Ransom; sisters; Emily (Len) Fitch and Adrianna Colbath and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
Visitation will be held Monday, October 30, 2023 from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. in the sanctuary at First United Methodist Church immediately followed by a celebration of life service at 2:00 p.m.
