Donald R. Greenhill, 77, of Decatur, AL passed away on March 7, 2024, at
his home. He was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, March 10, 2024, at 3:00 PM at Westmeade Baptist Church, with Rev. Scotty Hogan and Rev. Justin McAlpin leading the service. Shelton Funeral Home will direct the arrangements. The
family will receive visitors from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the church. The
service will also be live streamed on the church’s YouTube channel,
Westmeade Baptist Church – YouTube. Donald will be laid to rest at Blue
Springs Freewill Baptist Church in Phil Campbell, AL.
Donald was born June 14, 1946, to Artis L. Greenhill and Ludie Mae Greenhill in Osecola, AR.
After graduating from Belgreen High School in Belgreen, AL. Donald went to work at
Chemstrand (Monsanto, Solutia, Inc) where he retired after 35 years of service. He was a
member at Westmeade Baptist Church. He served in the Alabama National Guard.
Donald is survived by his wife of 54 years, Brenda Ergle Greenhill. Together, they had four sons,
Gary R. Greenhill (Kerri), Jeremy W. Greenhill (deceased), Jason D. Greenhill (Andrea), and
Marty S. Greenhill (Britney). Donald was also a proud grandfather to seven grandchildren, Grant
Greenhill, Grace Greenhill, Jake Ryan, Brady Greenhill, Bentley Stidham, Isabella Greenhill,
and Bryson Greenhill.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Artis and Ludie Greenhill; his sisters, Gladys
McGee, Louise Followell, Lila Ponder, Mary Martin, and Betty Sue Greenhill; and his
brothers, infant son Greenhill, Artis Greenhill Jr, Ronald Greenhill, and Danny Greenhill.
He is also survived by his sisters, Eunice Higgins of Russellville, AL, Jewel Reinhart of
Cleveland, OH, and Gwen Pounders (Jerry) of Russellville, AL; and his brothers, Jerry
Greenhill of Phoenix, AZ, Larry Greenhill (Linda) of Russellville, AL, and Lanny Greenhill of
Russellville, AL; a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be: Grant Greenhill, Jake Ryan, Brady Greenhill, Bentley Stidham, Bryson
Greenhill, Richard Reinhart, Billy Weeks, and Brent Greenhill.
