Donald Orcen Six

Donald Orcen Six, son of the late Charles W. Six, Sr. and Pearl Oyler Six, passed away Monday, February 5, 2024, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born in Cunningham, Kansas on May 20, 1931. Don proudly served his country on an LST ship in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. On September 13, 1952, he married Marilyn Reed. They shared 63 years before her passing in 2015. Don retired from Lucky Markets in California after a long career in the Dairy industry. Following Don’s laryngectomy surgery to remove his larynx, Don became an advocate for children against smoking. Don was also an avid Mall of Barnes Crossing morning walker.  He enjoyed being active and informed and could often be found attending his beloved Saltillo City’s Council meetings.

Don leaves behind three children, Sherilou Cantrell (Richard) of Chino, California, Scott Six (Kathy) of Angels Camp, California; and Star Wood of Saltillo; five grandchildren, Jason Cantrell (Deanna), Nathan Cantrell (Kathy), Justin Six (Katrina), Shannon Leavens (Thaddius), and Josh Wood (Haley); and six great-grandchildren.

Along with his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by his son, Steven Six; and three siblings, Dorothy Six, Evelyn Miller, and CW Six, Jr.

Visitation will be 5 until 7 p.m. Thursday, February 8, 2024, at Pegues, Saltillo.
