Donald Kelley Profile Photo  Donald Kelley, a dedicated educator and beloved family man, passed away on April 7, 2023, at the age of 87. Born on July 8, 1935, in East St. Louis, IL. He would later go on to earn a Master’s Degree in Education and dedicate his life to the betterment of students across the state of Illinois.

Donald began his career in education as a Teacher and coach at Field School in Texaco, IL in 1962. He quickly worked his way up the ranks, becoming a Principal, and then Superintendent for 29 years. During his tenure, he made a lasting impact on countless students and staff members alike, earning the respect and admiration of all who knew him.

Donald was also a devoted family man. He was married to his beloved wife, Patricia Martin Kelley, for 67 years, and together they raised two children, Steven (Patty) Kelley and Lori (Steve) Cross. His grandchildren, Amber (Chris) Carter, Nathan Cross, Ryan Kelley, Kelly (Cody) Street, and great-grandchildren, Noah Carter, Jameson Carter, Macie Street, and Maddie Street were the apple of his eye.

In his spare time, Donald loved nothing more than being outdoors and working on the family farm. He was an active member of Central Christian Church in Mt. Vernon, IL, First Christian in Nashville, and then Aspen Grove in Franklin. His infectious smile, warm personality, and unwavering dedication to his community will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

Donald is survived by his wife and two children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a sister, Betty Deckman. He was preceded in death by his mother and four siblings.

Donald’s legacy as an educator, family man, and community leader will live on through the countless lives he touched throughout his life.

The care of Mr. Donald Kelley and his family has been entrusted to the staff of Williams Funeral Home.
