Donald Ganus Wakefield, 75, of Lynn passed away on Sunday December, 1, 2024 at home surrounded by his family.
Donald was born to the Rev Ganus and Hazel Wakefield on August 13,1949. He was a welder by trade retiring from Drummond Coal Company. Donald attended Old Union Baptist Church where he also served as deacon. His greatest love in life was spending time on his farm with his grandchildren either tending to the cows or planting a garden.
Visitation will be Wednesday December 4, 2024 from 11:00AM – 1:00PM at Pinkard Funeral Home in Haleyville, AL. Funeral service at 1:00PM in the chapel, with Bro. Ricky Thrasher and Bro. Bobby Smith officiating. Burial to follow in Concord Cemetery.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents Ganus and Hazel Wakefield, parent in laws Lester and Luna Courington. He was also preceded in death by his brother Ralph Wakefield and sister Wilma Patterson.
Donald is survived by his wife of 54 years, Becky Wakefield, daughter Mandy Wakefield, son Matthew Wakefield, grandchildren Garrett Wakefield and Aubrey Wakefield and special daughter Erica Wakefield.
Donald is also survived by his brother Roger (Frances) Wakefield, sister in laws Kay Wakefield, Cynthia (Jimmy) Glasgow and Donna (Mitch) Nelson and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Matt Wakefield, Garrett Wakefield, Brian Sims, Ty Sims, Jason McDaniel, Anthony Olive, Jayson Harper and Andy Gardner.
