Donald Eugene "Donny" Patrick It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Donald Eugene Patrick (Donny), who left us on 10/30/2024 at the age of 69 after a very short but very hard-fought battle with cancer. A beloved father, grandfather, and friend, he was a remarkable man whose impact on our lives is immeasurable. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, November 7, at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia, beginning at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Don Singleton officiating.

Donny was not only an incredible father but his daughter’s best friend, a guiding force who taught her everything she knows about music, from the Eagles to Fleetwood Mac and everything in between. Many a night were spent with Donny playing the guitar and singing, bringing incredible joy to those around him. Donny was also an avid fan of sports, especially basketball and baseball. He was an instrumental role in teaching his daughter how to play basketball and his grandson baseball. He never missed an opportunity to teach them and guide them, often showing how these sports were metaphors for the journey of life and perseverance.

Donny was known for always showing the importance of being true to oneself, never shying away from making a joke or speaking his mind. He stood up for what was right, even when it meant that it wouldn’t be easy. His strong spirit and quick wit filled our lives with laughter, and his sarcasm was a hallmark of his personality that we cherished deeply.

As a devoted grandfather, he embraced the role with open arms, nurturing and caring for his grandson, Grant Haynes, while his son-in-law, Graham Haynes served overseas. His love and dedication to family were evident in everything he did, proving time and again that he was the heart of our family.

A problem solver at heart, Donny approached life’s challenges with creativity and determination. His hardworking nature and honesty inspired all who knew him. He faced adversity with strength, leaving a legacy of resilience and humor that will forever resonate in our hearts.

Though he is no longer with us, his vibrant life force can never be replaced. The lessons he taught us and the love he shared will continue to guide and inspire us every day. We will miss his laughter, his wisdom, and the joy he brought into our lives.

In honor of Donny, we encourage everyone to celebrate his life by embracing music, cherishing family, and living authentically.

He is survived by his loving ex-wife and close friend Rebecca Patrick (Bob Moore) with whom this process would not have been possible, his daughter Neely Haynes, her husband Graham Haynes and their son Grant Haynes, with whom he resided during his retirement and was an irreplaceable figure in their lives. He is also survived by his close friend who was like a son, Ryan Burt (Tara Burt), Carolyn O’Bryant, Brad Owens (Amy Owens), their children Leah and Jillian, as well as his nephews Kevin McWilliams and Brian McWilliams, as well as their spouses and children.

“Life is a journey. Remember me as the man I once was.” -Donny Patrick
