Donald Ellis Thomas, 84, of Carbon Hill, passed into the Kingdom of Heaven on Wednesday, August 19, 2020, at his residence with Barbara by his side. Graveside service will be held Friday, August 21, 2020, at 2 p.m., at Walker Memory Gardens, with Kilgore-Green Funeral Home directing. Rev. Johnny Sims will officiate. After an honorable discharge from the United States Army, Donald worked for many years at Reynold’s Gas Company before starting his own business, Thomas Heating and Cooling. He serviced the people in Walker County until his retirement. He was a Christian and became a pastor and preached at Kings Chapel Church in Hillard. He was loved as a husband, father, son, and brother. He was preceded by his parents, W.Q. and Gladys Thomas; brother, Jessie Lee Thomas and sister, Ramona Griffin. He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Thomas; daughters, April Elkins (Jerry) and Yvonne Ferguson (Tony); sister, Betty Pate; brother, Jimmy Thomas; grandchildren, Jessica Elkins, Julie Elkins, Jared Cook (Jennifer), and Racheal Lewis (Brian); great grandchildren, Lauren Lewis, Rivakah Cook, Innarah Cook, and Lymul Cook; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. A very special thanks to Hospice of Alabama for their care and kindness. Pallbearers will be Jared Cook and Brian Lewis. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Alzheimers Association.
