obituary imageDonald Elbert Dixon Jr., 70 of Gurley (Keel Mtn.) passed away peacefully at home Saturday December the 16th. He was born March 21st 1953 in Norman, Oklahoma to the late Donald Elbert Dixon Sr. and Betty Lou Carroll Dixon. He was a Navy Veteran and served his country proudly during time of war. He was a staunch supporter of the US Military and Veterans alike and served as a longtime member of the American Legion.

Donny was also a licensed HAM radio operator (K4DED), and a passionate member of the Huntsville Amateur Radio Club (HARC), where he was fondly known to his friends as “Rooster”. He also served as a volunteer member of the Keel Mountain Fire Department. Donny strongly loved God and Country. He believed in the unfaltering Truth of the Holy Word of God and was thankful for his countless blessings. To the earthly end, his faith sustained him…yet he was concerned that our “Country was going to hell in a handbasket”.

He is survived by his devoted and loving wife Lotus Brooks Dixon of 43 years; his daughter, Ronessa Landman Douglas (Kenneth); three sisters, Juliana Martin, Marlene Meadows and Lorinda Dixon; three grandchildren, Brandon Bartee, Alyssa Blake and Christopher Bartee; six great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews that loved him dearly.

Services will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers the family would like memorial donations made to the family or New Hope Funeral Home to assist with final expenses. Donations can also be sent through the Zelle app using the email address lotus.bd@outlook.com.
