Donald Clifton Tackett Sr.With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Donald Clifton Tackett, Sr., a devoted husband, loving father, and a career United States Marine. On December 3, 2024, Donald passed peacefully in his home in Greenbrier, TN, leaving behind a legacy of service, love, and strength.

Donald was born November 7, 1951, in Pikeville, KY, to the late William Goble Tackett, Sr., and Sena Potter Tackett.

Donald was married to Vickie Lynn Reynolds. Their 51 years of marriage were a testament to their enduring partnership and mutual devotion. As a father to Angela, Clifton, and Patricia, Donald was a constant source of guidance, encouragement, and unconditional love. His wisdom and strength were the foundations his family could always rely on, and his pride in his children and grandchildren was immeasurable.

MSgt Tackett proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps for 30 years. His unwavering commitment to the Corps and his brothers-in-arms was a reflection of his steadfast character and patriotism.

He is survived by a son, Donald Clifton (Tina) Tackett, Jr.; daughters, Angela (Thomas) Overstreet, and Patricia Laffredo; 5 grandchildren, Abigail Overstreet, Caleb Overstreet, John Overstreet, Audric Laffredo, and Blythe Lommer; brothers, Doug (Rhonda) Tackett, Chris Tackett, and Hiram (Sandra) Tackett; sisters, Mary (Steven) Cox, Sena (Greg) Skinner, and Sandra (Joel) Kroft; many nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog, Honey.

Semper Fidelis. Rest in peace, Donald; your love, courage, and dedication will remain with us forever.

Donald’s life will be celebrated at 12 noon on Friday, December 20, in the chapel of the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield. Military graveside services will follow at Springfield Memorial Gardens. If a donation of remembrance, in lieu of flowers, would like to be made, the family requests that it be made to Greenbrier Animal Control in Donald’s honor.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 pm Thursday, December 19, and again from 11 am until the service at 12 noon Friday at the funeral home.

Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield is in charge of these arrangements.
