Donald Baxter Browning passed away at home on December 7, 2020. He was born July 10, 1931 in Birmingham, Alabama, to Jackson Young Browning and Elsie Ophelia Crocker Browning. He was married to Muriel Dean White on November 11, 1950 and recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. He is survived by his wife, Muriel, and their three children, Donna Kay Allegood (Richard), Mark Allen Browning (Myra), and Robin Faye Edgerly (Eugene), and 10 grandchildren: Ben, Trent, Emily, Whitney, Dane, Adam, Jeremy, Heather, Marcus, and Eric. There are also 22 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Wanda Dansby, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, two sisters, and grandson, Nathan Browning. Donald, known to his family as “Hank”, worked in various cities during his career including Birmingham, Al, Elizabeth City, NC, and Harlingen, TX before settling in Huntsville in 1966. He retired in 1992, and he and Muriel traveled the country for many years. He loved music, woodworking, and, most of all, his family. He had a ready laugh and uplifted everyone he met, whether a loved one or a stranger. He has many friends and entertained weekly at Ardmore Nursing home for several years. Although he will be dearly missed, we take comfort in knowing he is singing and laughing with loved ones gone before him, and is now a guardian angel to his wife and family. The Celebration of Life Service will be Thursday, December 10, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Valhalla Funeral Home Chapel, 698 Winchester Rd Ne, Huntsville, Alabama 35811. He will be Laid to Rest at Valhalla Memory Gardens. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.valhallafunerals.com for the Browning family.
