Dona May Englert Monk

Ms. Dona May Englert Monk, age 82, of the Morgan City community of Lacey’s Spring, passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at her residence. Dona was born July 20, 1941 in Carbon County, Montana. Her parents were Alfred J. Englert and Ethel N. Cable Englert. She was the widow of Mr. Jim Monk. Dona worked in the retail and marketing industry in Hayward California before relocating to Morgan City from Clearlake, California in 2015. She was of the Mormon faith.

Dona was actively involved in the fashion industry and directed many fashion shows during her career. She was enthusiastic and supportive of the fashion activities sponsored by the Southland Mall in Hayward and the Bayfair Mall in San Leandro, California. She was also involved with marketing with the Downtown San Mateo Association in San Mateo, California. Dona was always up for a travel excursion and enjoyed cooking.

Ms. Monk is survived by her nephews, Barry D. Boles and Jason Boles; her nieces, Sheryl Bielenberge and Gina Bielenberge; and her sister, Lois Bielenberge.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Monk; parents, Alfred and Ethel Englert; and 10 siblings.

The family will receive friends and guest at a visitation on Thursday, March 7, 2024 between the hours of 1:00 and 2:00 p.m. The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation beginning at 2:00 p.m. Both will be at Brindlee Mountain Chapel in Morgan City. Officiating will be Brother Andy Grant. Pallbearers escorting Dona to her final resting place in the Mt. Olive Cemetery in Morgan City will be Barry Boles, Jeremy Boles, Joshua Boles, Jacob Boles, Andy Grant and Dustin Parker..
