Mr. Don V. Christopherson, age 84, and resident of Zion Road in Columbia, passed away on Tuesday, July 4, 2017 at his home.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at 3pm, officiated by Pastor Bill Wagner and hosted at Craft Memorial United Methodist Church with Military Honors provided by the United States Navy. A visitation will also be held at the church an hour prior to service. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born on March 9, 1933 in Wendell, Idaho, Don was the son of the late Blaine Vernon Christopherson and the late Ada Johnson Christopherson. He served his country honorably in the United States Navy during both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. After moving to Columbia in the 70’s he worked many years at Union Carbide from which he retired. When retirement became too confining he enjoyed meeting new friends while delivery driving for Alderson’s Cleaners. He was a former member of the Columbia Chapter of Masons.
Don was a lover of all animals, but especially his dog and two cats. His favorite hobby was swapping pranks with his “granddaughter”, Mallorie (he never tired of hiding her shoes in the oven). And over the last 16 years, Don has had a special love for Tammy, his close companion. They enjoyed traveling and working together in the yard.
In addition to his companion, Tammy Adams, he is survived by his daughters: Judy (Jeff) McDannold and Connie (Tom) Deere, both of Arkansas; his son, Steven (Lynn) Christopherson of Utah; nine grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; and his honorary family: Angela Davis and Mallorie Bell.
