Don Richey Profile Photo Don Richey, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away on June 6, 2024, at Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia, Tennessee. He was 67 years old.

Born on January 14, 1957, in Florence, Alabama, Don was the beloved son of the late Odom and Jean Richey. Don’s enthusiasm for life was contagious, and his devotion to his family, faith, and sports was unparalleled. A true supporter of Alabama football, he never missed an opportunity to cheer on the Crimson Tide. His loyalty extended to the Cincinnati Reds, and his unique tradition of a “changing of the cups” ceremony to mark the end of one sports season and the beginning of another.

Don was known for his sense of humor and his ability to bring smiles to the faces of everyone he met. His greatest pride and joy, however, was his family. A devoted Christian, Don lived his life preaching the uncompromised word of God, touching the lives of many with his faith and dedication.

For 30 wonderful years, Don was the loving husband of Debbie Richey, who survives him. He is also survived by his children: Danielle Thornton, Desiree Messer, Josh Brown, and Dawn Brown; his grandchildren: Taylor, Malik, Malachi, Truth, Halo, and Chloe; and his great-grandchildren: Khayma, Nalaya, Asia, and India. Additionally, Don leaves behind his siblings, Tony Richey and Mickey Richey (Glenda) and his special cousins, Mona, Vicky, and Tim.

Don was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Delaney Richey.

A service to celebrate Don’s life will be held on Sunday, June 9, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Trinity Family Church in Columbia, Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until the start of the service at the church. Don will be laid to rest at Polk Memorial Gardens.

Don Richey will be remembered as a wonderful man who lived his life with love, laughter, and an unwavering faith in God. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him.
