Don Laverl Thompson, 77, of Moulton, passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at North Alabama Medical Center. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Saturday, June 01, 2024 at Hatton Church of Christ. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM at the church with Ben Phillips, and Chris Miller officiating. Burial will be at Loosier Church of Christ Cemetery with Lawrence Funeral Home directing.
Born on November 15, 1946 to the late Winfred and Bertha Thrasher Thompson, Don graduated from Hatton High School in 1965 and was a lifelong member of Hatton Church of Christ. He served in the US Air Force during Vietnam and retired from Solutia. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Brenda Landers Thompson; children, Ricky (Tracie) Thompson, and Nancy (Teddy) Wilkins; grandchildren, Carmon (Kaylee) Wilkins, Nathan (Erica) Wilkins, Madison Thompson, Kaleb Wilkins, and Logan Thompson; great-grandchildren, Kendall Hayes-Wilkins, Kaiden Wilkins, and Emersyn Wilkins; sister, Rachel (Marvin) Kerley; brother, Lowell (Glenda) Thompson; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Coy Thompson; and sister, Nell Ellis. Pallbearers will be Carmon Wilkins, Nathan Wilkins, Kaleb Wilkins, Logan Thompson, Darrell Thompson, and Todd Thompson. Honorary pallbearers are his nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
