Don Hastings

Don Hastings, 84, passed away Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at Marion Regional Nursing Home in Hamilton, AL. He was born in Tishomingo County, MS to Clifton Hastings and Alene Bragg Hastings and was a brick mason for over fifty years. He served on the Red Bay City Council 1992-1996 and the Franklin County Commission two terms 2008-2016.

Services will be Saturday, September 14, 2 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Red Bay, AL with Jerry Hastings and Jackie Hastings officiating and Tyler Hastings speaking. Visitation will be Friday, September 13, 4-7 p.m. and Saturday, September 14, 12-2. Burial will be in Red Bay City Cemetery. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL will be in charge of arrangements.

He is survived by five children, Donnie Hastings, Jr., Mark Hastings (Cindy), Joe Hastings (Amanda), Joanna Allred (Scotty) and Samantha Wadsworth (Eric); nine grandchildren, Kevin Hastings, Hannah Grace Oakley (Matt), Alexia Shaw (Hamp), Tyler Hastings, Hall Hastings (Bryn), Danielle Knoblock (Chase), Ethan Allred, Nolan and Dane Wadsworth; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Nancy Hastings Kennedy; nineteen nieces and nephews; twenty-nine great-nieces and nephews; thirty-three great-great-nieces and nephews and great-great-great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Hallmark Hastings; his parents; three brothers, Charles, Bob and David Hastings and one sister, Joyce Moore.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Hastings, Tyler Hastings, Hall Hastings, Chase Knoblock, Ethan Allred, Hamp Shaw, Nolan Wadsworth and Dane Wadsworth. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Nelson, Phillip Orrick, Tommy Chandler and Bill Nabers.
