Don Carl Smith, 75 of Corinth, MS passed away Saturday, November 2, 2013. He was a native of Lauderdale Co. and attended Florence City Schools where he graduated from Coffee High School in 1956. He then received his B.S. from Florence State College in 1963, M.A. from Athens College in 1970 and EDS from the University of North Alabama in 1984. After his education he was employed by the Lauderdale Co. School System for three years, Muscle Shoals High School in 1966 and served as principal at Highland Park Elementary School for 17 years and then worked for the Mississippi Dept. of Vocational Rehabilitation in Corinth, MS for 13 years until his retirement in 2006.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 5, 2013 from 11:30-1:00 p.m at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. in Greenview Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Boone and Clara Smith and brother Joe Smith.
Survivors include his daughters, Susanne Smith Mecke and husband Greg of Atlanta, GA and Lisa Smith Arnett and husband Mark of Florence; brother, Bob Smith and wife Betty; grandchildren, Seth Arnett and Ben Arnett all of Florence, AL.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Joseph L. Pratt, Casey Redding, CRNP and all the nurses and staff of Magnolia Regional Health Center.
