Dolton Irving King, age 84, of Springfield, Alabama, entered into eternity on January 6, 2025. He was born in Springfield, Alabama on February 16, 1940, to Lunsford D. King and Maxie Bell Mussleman King. He was a 1958 graduate of Lexington High School. He married Martha Ellen Howell in 1959. He was a 1964 Graduate of The University of Alabama (Mechanical Engineering).
After graduating he began work at Chrysler Space Division while also managing his own business (King Motors). He was the owner of King Car Mart until retirement in 2009. He was a Cattle Farmer for most of his life, up until his passing. He was also a faithful member of Springfield Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed anything related to cars and motorcycles. He especially loved having all of his family gathered together at his home.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Douglas King.
He is survived by his Children: Mike King (Carol), Mark King, and Debbie Evans (Cooper). Grandchildren: Tyler King (Sara), Ashley Griffin (Justin), Haley Haigh (James), Taylor Evans and Cooper Evans. Great Grandchildren: Sawyer, Canaan, Abigail, Piper, Rowan, Alder and Lily. Beloved Cat: Peaches
Visitation will be Thursday, January 9, 2025, from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm at Springfield Cumberland Presbyterian Church. The funeral service will immediately follow at 12:00 pm with burial at Springfield Cemetery. Brother Kenny Morgan will officiate. Elkins East Chapel is assisting the family.
Pallbearers: Tyler King, Cooper Evans, Justin Griffin, James Haigh, Eddie Manuel, Hegan Belue.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
