Dolores died peacefully at Hospice Family Care at Redstone Village on Wednesday, November 9, 2022. She was born on November 18, 1930 in the Harmony Community in Cullman County to Verlon Aurice Williams and Nonnie Clayter Hudson Williams. She was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and a member of First Baptist Church in Hartselle where, until recent years, she was a faithful member of the choir. She loved working in her yard, mowing, raking leaves and gardening. Her mission in life was to spread God’s love and joy to others wherever she went. Dolores enjoyed visiting in the nursing homes and with those who were homebound. It was important to her to leave them with a smile on their face. She loved to laugh and to make others laugh.
Dolores was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Dewel Coleman Lott; a brother, Donald Williams (June), a sister, Faye Williams Doss and a nephew, Ruben Doss.
Survivors include one son, Stanley Dewel Lott (Patricia), two daughters, Karen Lott Vinzant (Keith), and Jennelle Lott Yancey (Don); two brothers, Ruben Maurice Williams (Shelba), and John Thomas “J.T.” Williams (Cheryl); four sisters, Carolyn Jo Williams Machtolf (Steve), Nonnie Diann Williams Ladd (Bart), Londa Ele Williams Pate (James “Jim”), and Flavin Williams Glover (Glenn); eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Nathan Lott, Matthew Vinzant, Stephen Yancey, Kevin Yancey, Patrick Crabtree, and Ashlee Chunn.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to The Gideons International, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to The Caring Place.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff of Hospice Family Care at Redstone Village, and especially to nurses Debbie Meirck and Sandi Goode for their exceptional compassionate care.
