Mrs. Dollie Ruth Goodwin Wilburn, age 67, of Carbon Hill passed away Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at Carbon Hill Nursing Home. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, August 28, 2021 at Bell Sumiton Chapel with burial in Morgan Cemetery. Jessica Jackson, Tonya Strickland and Lemar Parker will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Bell Funeral Home Sumiton has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Dollie was born on February 24, 1954 in a small community near Argo, AL known as Rocky Hollow. She spent her childhood as a resident of Sumiton, AL. As an adult, Dollie was married to Jim Wilburn of Carbon Hill, and they raised two daughters, Kara and Connie. She was a member of the Full Gospel Church of God for many years and a very devout Christian who loved Christ with her whole heart. As her health declined, she spent her last few years in the nursing facility where she enjoyed her friends, coloring, and arts and crafts activities. On August 24, 2021, after serving Christ her whole life, her race was won and she transitioned to her pain free body and her new glorious home with her Savior.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Dollie Dye; father, Louis Goodwin; and husband, Howard “Jim” Wilburn.
She is survived by her sister, Brenda Parker Berry (Charles) of Grove Oak, AL; brother, Lehman Goodwin of Nauvoo, AL; daughters, Kara Williams (Tommy) of Nauvoo, AL and Connie Mauldin (Steve) of Nauvoo, AL; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and a large and loving family with a host of special friends, nieces and nephews.
