Dollie Lucretia Griggs WillisDollie Lucretia Griggs Willis passed away on Saturday, February 10, 2024.
Dollie was born in Harlan County, Kentucky to Russell and Dovie Griggs on December 2, 1936.
Her father was there for work in the coal mines, but her family roots were on Lookout Mountain, Alabama.
She owned and operated Dolly’s Bridal Shop in Gadsden, Alabama for many years. Dollie was very creative and a talented seamstress. She was an artist at heart.
Dollie is survived by six of her seven children:
Pamela Willis, Peggy Willis Edgeworth, Bob Willis, Brian Willis, Barry Willis and Bruce Willis.
She also leaves behind her sisters, Marie Trammell and Belinda Martinez, as well as grandchildren
Daniel Daugherty, Sarah Daugherty Dearman, Shawn Willis, Beth Willis Warner, Jeanny Bailey Peret, Allen Edgeworth, Brooke Willis, Reagan Willis Mahaley, Elle Willis, Brannon Okada, Bruce Allen Willis, Wyatt Willis and fifteen great grandchildren, plus many nieces and nephews.
Dollie was preceded in death by her son Billy Willis, granddaughters Kaleena Willis and Heather Bailey Tarrance, plus her parents Russell Griggs and Dovie Renfroe Griggs, siblings Nadine Glenn, Wayne Griggs, Dale Griggs, David Griggs and Dianna Griggs.
A Celebration of Life will be held at her gravesite Saturday, April 27 at 1:30 p.m. at Walker’s Chapel Cemetery, 796 County Road 115 (Dogtown, Lookout Mountain), Fort Payne, Alabama 35967.
