Dola Gibbons, (DG) Lytal, 86, of Huntsville, Alabama went home to his heavenly father on Thursday, February 17, 2022.He passed peacefully with his beloved wife, Illa Jean, by his side holding his hand. DG loved God, his wife, his girls, his sons-in-law as sons, his grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His love surpassed any human love, as he was a man of faith living his life to glorify God. DG, the eldest of two sons, was born in Seminole, Oklahoma to Gibbons Fred Lytal and Alma Florence (Weddel) Lytal on December 17, 1935. DG attended Wichita University and had an incredible career as a Systems Analyst. He was a computer language expert and very proud to have been an essential link on the SR-71 reconnaissance aircraft project. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Illa Jean Carver Lytal; children, Christi Brotherton (Brent), Debbie Britton (Bob), Cherie Lytal (Todd Meyer), and Susie Eurton; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by both parents and his brother, Fred B. Lytal. DG never met a stranger, everyone really felt his love and joy for the Lord. His unconditional love, support and overwhelming joy made his faith a shining example for all of our lives. As long term members of First United Methodist Church, DG and Illa’s passion for their Savior was evident to all. DG enjoyed music, playing the trumpet and guitar and shared his passion for music by teaching his children and grandchildren. He and Illa enjoyed every form of dance including square dancing, ball room, swing, and ballet. One of his highlights was performing in the Huntsville Ballet Company (CBA) “the Nutcracker”. Visitation will be held Saturday, February 26, 2022, from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm at First United Methodist Church. His celebration of life will begin at 2:00 pm, with a graveside service immediately following at Maple Hill Cemetery.
