Funeral for Dixie M. Cartee Retherford, 94, of Hillsboro will be Saturday, October 5, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home with Bro. Chris Godbee and Bro. Scott Delashaw officiating. Burial will be in Moulton Memory Gardens. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
Mrs. Retherford, who died Wednesday, October 2, 2013, at NHC Healthcare, was born February 18, 1919, in Lawrence County to John T. Cartee and Sarah Elizabeth McAbee Cartee. She retired as a seamstress for Lawrence Corporation. She was a member of Smyrna Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Grady Retherford; one daughter, Ophelia Bradford; son-in-law, R.M. Bradford; one grandson, Ricky Bradford; two brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include two sons, Dewey Retherford and Ann of Hillsboro and Hollis Retherford and Judice of Town Creek; one daughter, Carolyn Bowman and Andy of Trinity; 13 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, 17 great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
