Dianna Gayle Peete Owens, 78, of Athens, passed away February 9, 2022, after an extended illness. Mrs. Owens requested a private family service, which is to be held at a later time in honor of her request.
Dianna was born in Decatur to the late Bert E. Peete and Juanita Frank Peete. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Dr. Robert W. Peete and Bert E. Peete Jr; and beloved aunt, Louise Peete Troutman of Nashville.
Mrs. Owens grew up in Athens and graduated from Athens High School. She received her teaching degree from Athens State College. She was an elementary school teacher, pianist, gardener, animal lover, former Sunday school teacher, farmers daughter and most importantly a Mom and Grandmother.
Survivors include her children, daughter Leisl Stanford (Christopher) of Athens, sons William Albert Owens Ill (Jennifer) of Athens and Thomas W Owens (Dana) of Madison; three grandsons, Lars Stanford of Florence, Andrew and Alexander Owens, of Madison; one brother, Frank M. Peete (Lynn) of Athens.
